笔者评:3D Systems Corp的iSense其实就是Primesense 1.09,目前市场价1200RMB左右,而鼎鼎大名的3D打印巨头在其网站上销售价格为399$,当然附带的是一个简单的3D点云获取与处理软件。在运行时还不时的出现死锁等问题。笔者测试过,真的感觉非常不值这个399$的价格啊。amazon的评分也超低,Shame on DDD!当然公关新闻倒是挺不错的。
3D Systems Corp (DDD - Analyst Report) has unveiled a new iSense 3D Scanner in order to incorporate the superior attributes of a camera into an iPad. Priced at $499, this novel 3D Scanner can capture items of various sizes and delivers instant 3D printables. When attached to an iPad, the iSense allows users to scan and obtain 3D digital prints of objects on the go.
This new scanner is available for pre-order and commercial shipments are expected to begin by the second half of Jul 2014. iSense was initially previewed at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show. The scanner features 3DS' popular Sense software which allows physical photography on the move. Further, 3DS' Sense 3D scanning software helps the iSense scanner to scan wirelessly, enhancing the entire picture clicking experience.
iSense is compatible with iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display and iPad 4 with Retina display. The compact design of the scanner directly transforms the iPad into a 3D scanner allowing the choice to scan anywhere and at any point of time. This apart, the iSense fully integrates the Cube(R) family of 3D printers, offering direct upload options to Cubify for cloud printing across a varied range of materials, including Ceramix, Aluminix and Clear. 3D Systems has been very aggressive in its approach to reach out to general consumers and industries and has made 3D printing a household concept. The company has formed strategic alliances with various companies ranging in order to diversify its offerings and expand its operating markets. In the last six months, 3D Systems has collaborated with Hasbro (HAS - Analyst Report), The Hershey Co. (HSY - Analyst Report) and Staples Inc. (SPLS - Analyst Report) in its approach to introduce 3D printing capabilities to various industries. Last month, the company announced an alliance with ScanSource, Inc. (SCSC - Snapshot Report) to support the latter’s new technology team which is primarily focused on the sale and support of 3D printing solutions. Earlier this month, 3D Systems implemented its 3D technology and created a prehistoric whale fossil which is the first-of–its-kind 3D heritage restoration for Smithsonian – the world’s largest museum and research complex.
